Over the past several months, Stop TB Canada and our coalition of civil society organizations from across the country have been advocating for Canada to pledge CAD$1.2 Billion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s Seventh Replenishment. Read more about the Global Fund’s mission and our call-to-action here. This past month, Stop TB Canada and many of our partners attended the International AIDS Conference in Montreal, which would have been an opportune moment for Canada to step up in the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria through announcing its Global Fund pledge. Unfortunately, Canada missed this opportunity and no pledge was made. While this was disappointing, Stop TB Canada and our coalition will continue the #FightForWhatCounts and are now looking at Canada to make a pledge at the Global Fund 7th Replenishment Conference this September in New York City.
Ahead of the conference in September, help us take action by: 1. Clicking the pre-drafted tweet below: I am calling on @JustinTrudeau to pledge #1Point2Billion to the @GlobalFund at the Global Fund 7th Replenishment Conference in September. It is time for Canada to step up in the #FightForWhatCounts to help save 20 million lives. 2. Signing on to the Global Fund’s petition to “count yourself in” to the #FightForWhatCounts:
