Lighting Up Landmarks for World TB Day 2025

Tuberculosis (TB) remains the world’s deadliest infectious disease - but it doesn’t have to be. TB is both preventable and curable, and new innovations in prevention, diagnostics, and treatment are paving the way to end this global health crisis. We just need the political will and public action to drive investment in these lifesaving initiatives.

Governments around the world – including Canada – must step up and confront this epidemic head-on. And you can help make that happen.

Join Us for World TB Day on March 24, 2025

World TB Day on March 24th is a global occasion to stand in solidarity with the millions of people who suffer from TB, and the millions who have lost their lives.

Every year, the international community shines a spotlight on tuberculosis. In 2024, our partners at Results Canada led an effort to get 43 monuments across Canada illuminated in red, and 8 cities to issue mayoral proclamations recognizing World TB Day. This year, let’s aim even higher!

We are again joining these global efforts to raise awareness of the need to #EndTB. We invite you to join Stop TB Canada and our partners by lighting up landmarks in red to symbolize the urgent need to #EndTB.

How to Get Started

Most landmarks require 1-2 months’ notice for lighting requests, so now is the time to get started. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or new to this cause, getting involved is simple and impactful. Here’s how:

  1. Download the Guide: Check out this step-by-step guide by Results Canada to help you successfully request landmark lightings in your community.

  2. Submit Your Request: Identify landmarks in your area and reach out with your lighting request as soon as possible.

  3. Spread the Word: Share your efforts on social media, tag your local officials, and use the hashtags #EndTB and #TogetherWeLead to amplify the message.

Why It Matters

TB is a relatively unknown and neglected disease; despite the global devastation it has wreaked for centuries. Lighting up landmarks creates a powerful visual statement, sparking conversations and increasing awareness about the fight against TB. Together, these efforts help build the momentum needed to prioritize TB as a public health issue and inspire action from decision-makers.

Let’s make World TB Day 2025 a landmark moment in the fight to #EndTB!
